Game Cover Crops

HAM Offer a complete range of Game Cover Crops including straights and specialist mixtures. The following are just part of our Game Cover Range.

TRIPLE MAIZE BLEND - Good cover and late season feed. 50,000 seeds per acre pack, Mesurol treated.

WHITE MILLET - Ideal companion crop with maize to provide good feed value and flushing areas. Suited as a windbreak or flushing area around maize.

GIANT SORGHUM - Tall, dense cover suited as shelterbelt for warmth round maize. Provides cover in key winter months and deep roots aid drought resistance.

DWARF SORGHUM – Easy to establish large leaved species with excellent standing power throughout the season. Good cover crop especially if Deer, Rats and Badgers are a problem but poor feed value. Good companion crop with maize when used as a windbreak. Provides a warm holding area.

AMBUSH MILLET MIX – The stronger reed millet provides cover while the white millet produces plentiful seed to hold the birds. Ideal for wind proof belt round a block of maize or as a flushing point at the end of the maize. Very winter hardy.

KALE - Good cover crop with leafy canopy. Not as tall as maize and no feed value. Good winter hardiness.

QUINOA - Capable of providing 1 tonne per acre of high protein seed. Often grown with Kale which supports plants heavy with seed. (Overdrive - Kale/Quinoa mix).

DWARF SUNFLOWER - Effective feed crop. Ideally sown as part of a game mix.

TRADITIONAL GAME MIX - Red and white millet, dwarf sunflower, Maize, Buckwheat, Kale, Mustard and Forage Rape. These species are selected for their feed and cover qualities. Effective for holding, feed and cover. Broadcast to achieve optimum establishment.
